Reluctant to remove makeup while exercising can have a very quick impact on the skin. The reason is, the combination of makeup with sweat can cause the wrong combination. If the exercise you do is limited to light walking or stretching, wearing makeup may still be tolerable. But when you do sports that make you sweat, wearing makeup is not a good idea.
Lucy Chen, MD, a skin health expert from Riverchase Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery, says that when you exercise, your body temperature increases, causing your body to sweat to stay cool. Hot conditions in the body can open the skin pores in charge of releasing oil and sweat. When the pores are open, there can be blockage due to bacteria or dirt that has stuck to the skin. These clogged pores can cause redness and irritation, depending on how sensitive your skin is.
